INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS

Republicans believe in equal rights, equal justice and opportunity for all citizens, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability. Republicans:

a. believe it is wrong to grant special legal privileges based solely on sexual preference or conduct;

b. support the sanctity of life from conception to natural death;

c. oppose cloning of human beings, including embryonic stem-cell research;

d. support adult stem-cell research, in keeping with our pro-life position;

e. support the traditional family as the basic unit of society, and oppose same-sex marriage, or legal equivalent.

2. CRIME

Republicans believe that the strength of our nation lies with individuals exercising self-government and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability, and responsibility must be honored. That belief is threatened by increasing violence and crime in our society.

Republicans believe in:

a. mandatory jail sentences for those found guilty of violent crimes against children, the elderly, and the most vulnerable;

b. swift and appropriate sentences for those found guilty of any crime; we affirm the "three strikes you're out" law;

c. promoting efficient incarceration facilities;

d. the individual's right to keep and bear arms, and call for stiff penalties for persons using a weapon in the commission of a crime;

e. the death penalty or life imprisonment for anyone who deliberately takes the life of any human being, with the exception of self defense;

f. vigorous prosecution of crimes against property in the name of environmentalism.

g. mandating immediate deportation of illegal aliens who are convicted of any felony or misdemeanor-or else immediately after their serving their prison sentence. Local authorities are to report illegal status to ICE immediately.

3. NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY AND DEFENSE

Republicans believe that Americans value our nation. We should, therefore, preserve our national sovereignty, strength and pride. The United States of America must ensure that our national interests are not subordinated to the interests of other nations or controlling bodies. Our government's first responsibility is to insure the security and freedom of its citizens.

Republicans believe in:

a. securing and protecting our country's borders against invasion and supporting the use of our National Guard forces if necessary;

b. honoring all past and current obligations to our troops and veterans;

c. stopping all federal subsidies, grants, or other payments to public institutions (schools, universities) and to municipalities that do not allow military recruiters to give out information and sign up interested young people.

4. EDUCATION

Republicans desire to recognize and reinforce the capabilities of all our citizens by improving educational opportunity. Republicans believe in:

a. parents as first decision makers, not the state, in the upbringing and education of their children; supporting familial bonds; and allowing parents, not the state, to direct this upbringing, except in the government's limited role of protection in cases of child abuse;

b. affirming parental choice in the method of education for their children: public, private or home school, including tax exemptions;

c. demanding every child pass minimum standards in every academic subject before advancement;

d. rejecting federal control over education by eliminating the U. S. Department of Education;

5. WELFARE REFORM

Republicans believe that liberty and justice have brought this nation opportunity, growth and prosperity through the free enterprise system, by encouraging individual initiative and reforming the welfare system.

Republicans believe in:

a. emphasizing and maintaining time limits on welfare and removing increased benefits for parents who continue to have children while on welfare;

b. supporting the "work first" program to give welfare recipients the tools they need to break the cycle of dependency and return to self-sufficiency;

c. maintaining a welfare system that places real-world requirements and responsibilities on recipients, while prohibiting illegal aliens from receiving benefits.

6. BALANCED BUDGET AND LOWER TAXES

Republicans believe that our government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep most of the money they earn by:

a. reducing taxes, fees, and regulations on businesses and individuals at the local, state and federal levels;

b. supporting a balanced budget at the local, state and federal levels;

c. repealing the state inheritance tax (death tax), permanently;

d. opposing a state income tax;

e. privatizing social security;

f. appropriating all revenue brought in from road and gas taxes, vehicle registrations and tolls to go back to the road system only, not into the general fund or Authority;

7. LIMITED GOVERNMENT

Republicans believe that the proper role of government is to provide for our people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations; that the best government is that which governs least and is closest to the people.

Republicans believe in:

a. eliminating unneeded and ineffective government programs;

b. realizing that strict constitutional interpretations are necessary in the judicial branch to preserve the Constitution and the rule of law;

c. enforcing the separation of powers; e.g. confining the legislature to its defined powers, limiting executive orders to emergency only, and prohibiting judicial legislation from the bench;

d. restricting the use of eminent domain by limiting government "takings" only for Constitutional and clearly defined "public use", prohibit taking for "economic use", and giving property owners first right to reacquire if the project changes or is cancelled;

e. requiring all state agencies to implement recommendations of budget and performance audits;

8. Technology

Republicans believe that Americans must retain strong principles while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

Republicans believe in:

a. validating the election process and assuring that all HAVA Act Mandates to the voter registrations are guaranteed to be current and accurate;

e. opposing the proposed National Animal Identification System (NAIS).

9. ENVIRONMENT

Republicans value our environment. We believe in responsible stewardship of the land and its resources. We reject scare-tactics and international entanglements that would encumber our land. We believe in private property rights. We believe in market driven solutions based on peer-reviewed science to determine efficient use of all resources.

Republicans believe in:

a. warming and cooling trends are natural processes, not induced by man;

b. supporting development of clean, efficient, safe energy sources without government subsidies;

c. repealing the "Endangered Species Act";

d. supporting energy policies which reduce America's dependence on foreign oil and gas by allowing increased responsible drilling and mining in the 50 states, and off shore;

10. HEALTH CARE

Over-reliance on third-party insurance and bad government policies has caused us to spend too much on health care. Republicans believe in applying free market, ethical principles to individual health care choices and to those that offer or administer health care resources to the people.

Republicans believe in:

a. removing state insurance mandates, thus allowing consumers to select only the coverage they require, including health savings accounts;

b. returning competition among insurers and requiring disclosures of fee schedules;

c. eliminating taxes and fees on health insurance premiums;

d. refunding excess not for profit Health Insurance Company surpluses back to the policy holder annually.

10. IMMIGRATION

Republicans believe in the opportunity of U.S. citizenship for all who enter the country legally. Illegal entry threatens the rights, security, and privileges of all citizens and those here legally. Republicans believe in:

a. increasing the security and protection of our borders against illegal entry and invasion by supporting the use of the National Guard, if necessary;

b. streamlining the extradition process and aggressive repatriation of illegal aliens, within 60 days;

c. opposing all amnesty or "guest worker" legislation, except to fill emergency needs until real immigration reform has been defined and enacted into law;

d. elimination of incentives that draw illegals, such as birthright citizenship, education, driver's licenses, medical care, and welfare;

e. eliminating sanctuary cities;

f. requiring all law enforcement agencies to report citizenship status when investigating crime or collision accidents;

g. enforcing existing immigration laws, including employer sanctions;

h. wish to unite all peoples and all cultures within the United States and support the adoption of English as the official language.

Get Involved!

Republicans believe that our party is the best vehicle for translating the above ideals into a positive and successful government.
